Detox water is, essentially, water infused with the goodness of various fruits, vegetables, and herbs depending on one’s taste and preferences. Thanks to the widely believed notion about the need to flush out toxins from the body to keep it healthy and strengthen immunity, detox water has gained immense popularity in recent years. As such, when we stumbled on a new detox water recipe — cucumber-lemon-ginger — we wanted to know more about its said benefits.
Take a look at the post from nutritionist Nidhi Gupta. “It improves digestion and boosts overall health. Detox water is typically made by adding ingredients such as cucumber, lemon, mint, ginger, and berries to water and allowing it to infuse for several hours or overnight,” she said.
How to make it?
1 – medium-sized cucumber
1 – de-seeded lemon
1 piece of ginger
10 – mint leaves
1 tsp – chia seeds
1 l- water

Dr Santosh Pandey, acupuncturist and naturopath, Rejua Energy Center, Mumbai said that consuming adequate amount of water is necessary to flush out the toxins from the body. And adding delicious flavours to regular water only makes it easy to consume one’s recommended dietary allowance of water. “So, infused water, also known as detox water, is a great way to add nutrients and flavour to your water without adding extra calories. A refreshing cucumber, lemon, and ginger is thirst-quenching detox water,” said Dr Pandey.
Talking about the ingredients, he added that cucumbers are known for their hydrating properties. “Lemon juice is great for detoxification as it simulates the liver and also contains pectin, a fiber that is known to decrease appetite. Ginger is a great anti-inflammatory food. Drinking lemon, ginger, and cucumber water daily is essential and healthy because consuming these essential organic foods daily not only flushes out toxins but also helps cleanse the entire body system,” Dr Pandey told indianexpress.com.
